Rodney Nelson Fargo, ND Poet

why march to horn and drum around the park
as if to celebrate your winning of
a country or a woman or a name
when you were not even a vier

why not go alone without any show
in gratitude for being able to
and to let the oaks have recognition
on standing there in the same winter

Rodney Nelson has worked as a copy editor in the Southwest and now lives in his native northern Great Plains. Recently published chapbook and book titles are Metacowboy, Mogollon Picnic, Hill of Better Sleep, Felton Prairie, In Wait, Cross Point RoadLate & Later, and (very soon) The Western Wide.
